descripção |
Valley Music was composed for the Mississippi Valley State University Percussion Ensemble, hence the title. Valley Music was the first of Nash’s creative works written after his migration to the state of Mississippi and Nash has always been a composer who reflects his personal experiences into his music. After his arrival in Mississippi, he was intrigued by several types of music presented there and one of those was steel drum band as MVSU was one of 4 universities in Mississippi that had a steel drum band. Valley Music, conceived for 13 percussionists, is an 8 minute, moderately fast tempo single movement work with an expressive tempo marking “Energetically”. It incorporates several types of concert percussion music, including steel drum, African, Asian, Latin and contemporary U.S. marching band. |
