Description |
African Diaspora Suite is a four movement work for grade 1.5-2 band, based on and inspired by West African folk music. Movement 1, Fanfare and Dance is a fast tempo, quadruple meter with highly syncopated rhythms and melodies. Movement 2, Lullaby is a slow tempo, triple meter movement. Movement 3, Reggaeland is in a fast duple meter, with melodies, harmonies and rhythms that allude to reggae music and the only minor mode movement. Movement 4, Swan Dance is in compound duple meter with several cross rhythms also prominent in West African folk music. |
