Description |
The word “phostastecal”is one that Gary Powell Nash created by rearranging the letters of the group’s name that the work was originally conceived for. Initially composed for alto saxophone and bassoon, PHOSTASTECAL SALSA is based on and inspired by salsa music as it utilizes such melodies, rhythms and motifs. Composed in an G minor mode, it features fast, energetic and dance-like music, mostly demonstrated in its use of highly syncopated rhythms. It also explores the extreme high and low tessituras for both instruments. |
