| The title River City Promenade stems from the work composed for a group in Grand Rapids, Michigan, nicknamed "River City". It is a three movement composition with the 1st movement marked Medium Fast Dance-Like Feel, and written in septuple meter, with alternating 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures and highly syncopated rhythms . Movement 2 is slow and rhapsodic, also with highly syncopated rhythms. Movement 3, marked Playful, Dance-like is in 6/8 time at dotted quarter note = 100. |
